Edit: I was studying the Thirteen Colonies and looking at comparisons between King George III and George Washington when I went into a tangent and started focusing on Queen Elizabeth I and King James VI / I.
I thought it was interesting to point out the physical resemblance between George III and George Washington.
According to Wikipedia it says:
"The Thirteen Colonies were the colonies on the Atlantic coast of North America founded between 1607 (Virginia) and 1733 (Georgia). They revolted against the Kingdom of Great Britain under King George III with the onset of the American Revolution starting in 1775, and in 1776 declared their independence from the British Empire and formed a new nation, the United States of America." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thirteen_colonies

- 1660–1685 King Charles II
- 1685–1688 King James II
- 1689–1694 King William and Queen Mary
- 1689–1702 King William III

This is the list of Kings who had already colonized a lot of the western lands in America before the Thirteen Colonies were established and revolted against King George III and created the United States of America.
It starts with King James VI / I of England who was actually Elizabeth I's successor.
"Elizabeth I (known simply as "Elizabeth" until the accession of Elizabeth II; 7 September 1533 – 24 March 1603) was queen regnant of England and Ireland from 17 November 1558 until her death. Sometimes called "The Virgin Queen", "Gloriana", or "Good Queen Bess", Elizabeth was the fifth and last monarch of the Tudor dynasty. The daughter of Henry VIII, she was born a princess, but her mother, Anne Boleyn, was executed two and a half years after her birth, and Elizabeth was declared illegitimate. Her half-brother, Edward VI, bequeathed the crown to Lady Jane Grey, cutting his two half-sisters, Elizabeth and the Catholic Mary, out of the succession in spite of statute law to the contrary. His will was set aside, Mary became queen, and Lady Jane Grey was executed. In 1558, Elizabeth succeeded her half-sister, during whose reign she had been imprisoned for nearly a year on suspicion of supporting Protestant rebels." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Elizabeth_I
"James VI and I (19 June 1566 – 27 March 1625) was King of Scotland as James VI from 24 July 1567 and King of England and Ireland as James I from the union of the English and Scottish crowns on 24 March 1603 until his death. The kingdoms of England and Scotland were individual sovereign states, with their own parliaments, judiciary, and laws, though both were ruled by James in personal union." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_I_of_England
Queen Elizabeth I and King James VI / I
King James was Queen Elizabeth I successor to the throne.
King James was King of Scotland and Elizabeth was Queen of England.
After Elizabeth the Queen of England died, King James the King of Scotland became the new King which united Scotland and England together into one nation.
I'm thinking this King James was the King James that "The King James Version" of the Bible was named after.
